Junior Miller has been a fixture in the stock car racing community since 1976. In his first 5 season he raced in what is now the Sprint Cup series. From the early 80’s for over 20 years Junior could be found racing in the open wheeled Whelen Modified Tour. Most recently he was behind the wheel of the R+L Carriers #69 car driving in NASCARs Southern Modified Tour.
Junior Miller will always be a part of the R+L Carriers Race family. Recently our Hauler drivers RIck and Sherryl Hackworth were in China Grove, NC. North Carolina is ground zero for American stock car racing, everyone is family. While in North Carolina for a customer visit Rick and Sherryl stopped by the Bowman Gray race track. This is Juniors home track.
Racing is a small community and introductions were made and on Sunday Rick and Sherryl found themselves in church with Junior Miller! In a small church in North Carolina a mini R+L Racing reunion occurred. No one was more excited that Junior to be reconnected to members of the R+L team.
Hot Dogs to be Served
Monday morning found Rick and Sherryl running up to High Point, NC for another R+L Carriers customer visit and lunch. Junior Miller decided to return the favor and surprised our hauler team by showing up at the customer appreciation lunch and visit. Junior took time to sign autographs and visit with employees over a hot dog lunch. Junior repeated this on Tuesday of that week in Burlington, NC and it was there that he got behind the wheel of the #69 one more time. The crowd couldn’t have been more excited to see Junior fire up the yellow open wheeled #69.
We Really Are Family
What a great week in North Carolina for our customers, our hauler drivers and race car driver Junior Miller. Every day Sherryl and Rick take our NASCAR cars to customers, serve up a hot dog lunch and thank them for choosing R+L Carriers for their freight and ltl needs. It is not everyday that one of our driver joins them to show our customers how much they are appreciated. Thanks Junior for continuing to represent R+L!
