As part of of our salute to working fathers everywhere, we reached out to our hauler drivers Rick and Wade to talk about their heroic efforts to balance the nine months each year they are on the road with keeping in touch with their family. We were not only lucky enough to get some great advice from the drivers, but we also received a response from Rick’s daughter – a wonderful letter for us to share.
To my Dad:
How do I begin to tell you what it means to have a dad like you? To me, you are everything a daughter could ask for in a father. It wasn’t, and still isn’t easy growing up with a truck driver for a dad. There are a lot of things that you miss that we both know you would love to participate in. As I got older, it was easier to understand that you were out there to take care of me. You were, and still are a very dedicated, strong, hardworking man who I admire wholeheartedly. The person I am today is because of the love you have shown me each and every day of my life. You helped me become strong and confident in who I am and what I could do with my talents, my opportunities and my dreams. You always taught me to believe in myself and to never settle for less than I am worth or less than I am capable of doing. No matter where I go or what I do, I want you to know that there is and will always be a part of you in my heart. And no matter how old I am, I will always need you and love you. Thank you for everything that you have done for me in the past and continue to do for me in the present. I’m so glad that my little girls can call you their Papaw. We love you so much and miss you just the same. Happy Fathers Day.
Love, Jamie ❤
Thank you, Jamie, for allowing us to share this letter. And thank you to all of the fathers out there on your special day! Happy Father’s Day to all of you!
